Graphic Novel Graphic Design

For this project, I was hired to create the logos and some of the cover layouts for the crossover graphic novel of the worlds of “the School for Good and Evil” and “Red Queen”. The book was illustrated by Emmy Award winning artist, Joel Gennari, including the cover artwork. My task was to create the logos for these pieces. I took the motifs of both authors’ books and melded them. Chainani’s works always feature gilded swans. Aveyard’s series showcases decadent crowns. For this piece I illustrated a bejeweled tiara made out of golden swans. For Part 2, I was tasked with “destroying” the crown to reflect the content of the book. I also worked on some of the design elements and types setting of the covers.

JLL 2024 Holiday Card

JLL 2024 Holiday Card

Dynamic Holiday Animatic

For this project, I was asked to create a holiday card to be dispersed globally. To accomplish this, I created a collage of JLL’s brand icons in the shape of an ornament. For the static versions, this was all. For the animated versions, I not only had the ornament sway, but many of the individual icons were given personal animations to create a very dynamic scene. The item was so popular that it was translated into over a dozen languages across the globe.

I cut together and animated this video in a remarkably tight turnaround. JLL Hackathon is an internal competition to discover new innovations straight from employees’ minds. For this year I captured that in video animated form.

Marquis Booth Space produced by Building Engines

This massive marquis booth space was requested on a tight turnaround in 2024. I devised the design based on prescribed templates, utilizing the Building Engines Brand Standards to enhance the space’s layouts. I used dark and light values to exaggerate depth and corners. I even animated the video that played on loop at the booth.

Flame Con is a venture of the non-profit Geeks OUT, and is a comics and pop culture event geared towards the queer community. Flame Con first started in 2015, during which I served as Assistant Art Director. In 2016 I rose to full-fledged Art Director of the show. From 2017-2019 I was promoted to Chair of the event, running the entirety of Flame Con with the help of dedicated volunteers. Under my tenure leading the event, we went from a Brooklyn-based small-size convention of 2,000 attendees, to a Manhattan-based mid-size convention of 7,500+ attendees. While in recent years I have delegated much of the design to my creative team, I am still responsible for the core look of the show. I developed the event’s palette and style guide, the event’s media kit, and created the Flame Con website. I even hand print and mount much of the event’s signage. While I have stepped down into an advisory role in 2020, I am still heavily involved in the production and continued success of the convention. It is worth noting that Flame Con is a 100% volunteer endeavor, and every cent made from the show goes right back into the community and growing the event.

There was an undercurrent of joy that I hadn’t felt at similar events…
